Biography:
Agnes Abraham
1880 –17/08/1922

Agnes Abraham (1880-1922)

Agnes was born in 1880 in Wigginton, the only daughter of Henry Abraham, a railway plate layer, and his wife Eliza (née Cutler). She had two brothers, William and Frederick.

In the 1891 census the family were living at 4, Fox Cottages (given as Fog Cottages in the various census reports), Tring railway station.

The 1901 and 1910 censuses shows that her mother had died and that twenty year old Agnes was acting as housekeeper for her father. They are still at the same address, but her brothers have left home, their place taken by two male boarders.

When Henry retired he moved to 12, High field Road, Berkhamsted and in 1911 his son William was living with them. Agnes was acting as their housekeeper. Henry died in 1914.

Agnes died on 17th August 1922. Although her address is given as 12, Highfield Road, Berkhamsted, the probate record states that she died at 241a, High Street, one of the Sayers Almhouses. She left everything to her brother Frederick Abraham, labourer, who died in 1944 and is also buried in the cemetery, as is their father Henry.
