Unmarked grave Alice Susannah Dockrill (née Francotte) 1865-1937

Alice as born in 1865 in the  City of London, the daughter and oldest child of Thomas Francotte, a ship’s store keeper and his wife Sarah (née Taylor). In 1871 they were living at 5, York Street, Stepney.

She married widower Charles Dockrill, a master tailor living and working in Berkhamsted, in 1897.

Charles’s first wife Phebe had died in 1895. (She, and probably daughter Lily, are buried in an unmarked grave in this cemetery).

Alice became the stepmother of Daisy Grace (1891), Lily (1892) and Violet (1894). She and Charles had Charles Norman (1899) and Wilfred (1901). All the children were born in Berkhamsted.

In the 1921 census she is described as a self-employed ostrich feather-dresser, presumably for the use of milliners and fan-makers.

Alice died in October 1937 at 242 High Street aged 72 and was buried 22 October. The Hope Hall minister presided at the funeral.
