Annie was born in Carshalton, Surrey, in 1862 to John Hill, a butler born in Somerset and Harriett born in Surrey.
Like many male domestic servants, especially butlers who had experience in maintaining wine cellars, John became a publican and took on the licence of The Old Surrey Hounds in Caterham which was built in 1870. By 1881 Annie was working as a barmaid.
She married George Robert Woollett in Godstone, Surrey in 1884. At the time he was a nurseryman. They lived in Water Lane, Caterham.
Daughter Gladys was born in 1885 followed by Claire Myrtle (1887) and Robert (1891).
George took on the licence of The Ferry inn, New Hythe, East Malling in Kent but he died 18 June 1893.
Annie then married Joseph Livings, a saddler, in 1899 in the district of St George’s Hanover Square, London.
In 1901 they lived at 22, Gossoms End with Myrtle and Robert. Gladys had gone to live with her aunt and uncle, who were lodging house keepers and, aged 15, was probably helping out with the guests.
By 1911 they had moved to 26, Cross Oak Road
Joseph died in 1931. In the 1939 Register Annie was living at 59, Cross Oak Road with Claire Myrtle and Gladys, both self-employed dressmakers.
She died 1 March 1948.
