Carol was born in 1944 to George Thomas and Ruby Gladys (née Paramore) Northwood who had married in Berkhamsted the year before. George was a sand and gravel digger from Cheshire and Ruby was a local girl.
Sadly little Carol died in 1948 aged 3.
