CHARLES WILLIS: 1927 – 1931
Charles was born in 1927. He was the seventh of eight children born to George and Gertrude Willis (née Gates). George Willis was a gamekeeper on the Haresfoot estate and the family lived at Keeper’s Cottage, Bottom Farm, Swing Gate Lane, where Charles was born.
Sadly, Charles did not live long. He died at the age of 4 in 1931 and was buried in Rectory Lane Cemetery. Both his parents are buried in Northchurch cemetery, New Road, Northchurch.
