Biography:
Daisy Final
1882 –1940

Unmarked grave Daisy Final (née Dealey)

Daisy was born in 1882, the daughter of Michael and Sarah Dealey. Michael was a general labourer and part of the large clan of Dealeys in the town. In 1891 when he was living with his family in Red Lion Yard there were a total of twenty Dealeys living there.

The 1901 census gives no occupation for 19 year-old Daisy who was still at home with the family. Perhaps with seven younger siblings she was needed to help her mother.

She married Alfred Final, a road labourer, in 1905. Edith was born 1903, Violet in 1906, Ivy in 1907 and Phyllis in 1909.

The 1911 census records the Final family living in the same dwelling – 4, Water Lane – as Daisy’s parents and seven siblings - fifteen people were in a six-roomed house.

By June 1921 the Finals were living at 20, Mill Street and baby Thomas had just been born.

Alfred died in 1936 and is buried in this cemetery. Daisy’s whereabouts at the time of the 1939 Register have not been traced but by the time she died in Hempstead House, Hemel Hempstead in October 1940 aged 58 she had moved to 3, Manor Street.

Her parents Michael and Sarah Dealey also lie in this cemetery.
