Daniel was born in about 1811in Northchurch. It has not been possible to discover anything about his early life, but he became an agricultural labourer.
Daniel married Ann Winter in Berkhamsted in 1849 and in 1851 they were living in Grubs Lane, later moving to a yard off the High Street.
Daniel died 1 January 1880 aged about 75. Ann survived him until 1886. She is buried here with him.
