David Sear
1892 –1935

DAVID SEAR: 1892 - 1935

 David Sear was born in 1892 at Startops End, Marsworth Buckinghamshire to Henry Sear and Eliza Sear, née Wrigh, In 1901 his father was an agricultural labourer.  David had 6 siblings Jane, Albert, Ernest, Thomas, Edward and John.

 By 1911 his father had become the lock keeper near Billett Lane Berkhamsted and the family lived in the Lockhouse. David worked as a sawyer

 David joined the Hertfordshire Regiment, a Territorial regiment, in 1913. With the outbreak of war in 1914, the regiment was embodied and David served in France. He was severely wounded in the head in 1915 and sent home to recover. He was evidently thereafter not fit enough for active service and was transferred to an Agricultural Company of the Labour Corps. He was discharged in 1919 and returned to Berkhamsted to work once again as a sawyer for East & Sons in Gossom’s End.

 In 1920 he married Winifred Annie Paramor 23 October 1920. He and Winifred had 2 children Eileen Sylvia and John and lived at 11 High St Berkhamsted.

 David died aged only 42 and was buried in Rectory Lane Cemetery 2 January 1935
