Dennis was born in 1916 in Ulcombe, Kent and baptised there in July 1916. His parents were Pelham George Gibson and Catherine Maud (née Fermor) of East Sutton. Pelham was a woodreeve on an estate, overseeing all the forestry. Later, by 1921, he was a chauffeur.
Dennis died in September 1935 aged 19 at West Herts hospital. He had been living with his parents at White Lodge Cottage, Gravel Path, where his father was employed as a gardener.
