Plot 966 Dinah Rachael Brinkman (née Bennett)

Dinah was born in 1838 in the little village of Tolland Royal in Cranborne Chase Wiltshire,  the daughter of John, a farm labourer and Arabella (née Trowbridge). She was baptised 30 May 1847.

Her father died in 1859 when she was eleven. In 1861 she and her mother were living with her mother’s sister Maria who had married Hezekiah Bennett, an agricultural labourer.

Arabella her mother died in 1865 and by the 1871 census Dinah had come to Tring to work as cook to the Vicar, the Reverend H A Harvey and his wife. There she met and married local man Albert William Brinkman, a cooper.

They had two children in Tring - Albert N (b. 1872) and Alexander (b. 1874) and moved to Berkhamsted by 1877 where Percival M was born that year. He was to be followed by Denis G (b. 1879) and Leonard Harold (b1881). In the 1881 census they were living in the High Street. Dinah died in 1902

Her son Leonard and his two wives, Eva and Adelaide, are buried in plot 929 and her daughter-in-law Sarah Hannah, wife of Alexander, lies in an unmarked grave in this cemetery.
