Edith Sarah was born in 1876 in Ashley Green, Buckinghamshire. She had a sister and a younger brother, Bertie Matthew. Their parents have not yet been traced.
At the time of the 1891 census Bertie and Edith were visiting their maternal aunt, Harriet Honour, a laundress living in Chesham Road, Berkhamsted.
In 1901, aged twenty five, she was living at 126, high Street with Bertie and a female lodger. In 1911 she and Bertie were living with their widowed mother and a boarder at 33, Victoria Road.
Bertie died in 1912 and in 1921 Edith was a visitor at the home of Eleanor Mary Sear, who must have been a relative as Eleanor’s aunt, Fanny Brackley, was living with her at 33, Victoria Road.
The electoral registers for 1929 and 1930 record Edith and Fanny living together at 8, Chesham Road.
Edith Sarah died in 1945 aged sixty nine. Her brother Bertie is also buried in this cemetery.
