Biography:
Elfrida Eldridge
1868 –24/03/1917

Plot 504 Elfrida Evelina Augusta Eldridge (née Constant) (1868-1917)

Elfrida was born in 1868 and married Edmund Jackson Eldridge, a consular official, in Smyrna, Turkey c.1901/5. Their only child, Cedric George, was born in Smyrna in 1905.

Edmund died in Crete in 1916 and Elfrida appears to have moved to Berkhamsted.

Tragically 12 year-old Cedric caught a serious infection and died on 17 March 1917 at the isolation hospital in Aldbury.

Elfrida, who must have also caught it, died just six days later on 23 March 1917 at  North Road, Berkhamsted, aged 49. Possibly they were both victims of the Spanish influenza epidemic that caused so many deaths worldwide.
