Unmarked grave Eliza McCausland (née Waite) (1852-1926)

Eliza was born in 1852 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, the daughter of John Waite, a farmer, and his wife Jane (née Gaisford). She was baptised in Trowbridge 15 February 1852.

In early 1873, in the district of St George in the East, London, she married John Henry McCausland, a cooper, born in London.

John was employed as a cooper in a cement works and in 1881 they were living at “Botany Bay”, 30, Swanscombe Road in Northfleet, Kent.

By April 1891 they had moved to16, Station Road, Northfleet where they remained for the rest of their married life.

They had eight children: William John (1875), John Henry (1877), Arthur Elijah (1881), Frederick (1883), Charles (1885), Laurie Eliza (1887), Daisy Sarah Jane (b. 1888), Archibald (1890) All were born in Northfleet except for William and John.

John Henry died in 1903 and in 1910 Eliza was living with her son Arthur, a baker, at 14 Robertson Street, Clapham, Wandsworth, along with Laurie, Daisy and Archibald.

At the time of the 1921census Eliza was living with  her unmarried daughter Daisy, her married daughter Laurie Eliza Chamberlain, her son-in-law and two grandchildren at 16, Highfield Road, Berkhamsted where she died aged 73. She was buried 17 May 1926
