ELIZABETH DYER; 1870 -1951

Elizabeth was the only child born to Henry Dyer and his second wife Hannah. She was born in Berkhamsted in 1870. Elizabeth never married and in the 1891 and 1901 census returns she is to be found living with her parents in Highfield road and her occupation is noted as “dressmaker.” In 1911 census, after the death of both her parents, she is described as a tea agent and was living as a boarder with the Broom family in High St Berkhamsted.

She died in 1951and is buried in Rectory Lane, Berkhamsted with her parents. St Peter’s burial records reveal that she was buried on 24th April 1951. Her address given as Montagu Road, but she died at Three Counties hospital in Stotfold. The Three Counties Hospital was a hospital for people with mental illness serving the counties of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Huntingdonshire.
