Emma Moss
1856 –1900

Unmarked grave Emma Moss (née East) (1856-1900)

Emma was born in 1856 in Two Waters, Hemel Hempstead.

In 1871 she was living with her parents, William and Maria East, in Frogmore Crescent, Hemel Hempstead.  Her father was a paper maker, probably working for John Dickinson’s in Apsley Mills, and Emma, aged 15, was an envelope maker, probably with the same employer.

By 1881, still at Frogmore Crescent with her parents, she worked as a dressmaker.

Emma married Thomas Robert Moss, a grocer’s assistant born in Suffolk in 1885 St Mary’s, Hemel Hempstead and Gladys was born in 1887.

In 1891 they lived at  24, Queen’s Street, Hemel Hempstead with her widowed mother and a lodger.

Emma died, aged 44, in October 1900 in Berkhamsted.

Thomas married again, to Henrietta Frost, in 1904.

He died in 1943 and is buried in this cemetery.
