Esther was born in 1779 in Over Darwen, Lancashire. Her parents and husband are unknown, but she had a son, George, born around 1806, died 1848.
In 1851 Esther was living with her widowed daughter-in-law Mary at Egerton Terrace, High Street – the elegant row of houses to the east of Rectory Lane. Her whereabouts at the time of the 1861 census are unknown.
Esther died 16th July 1868 and was laid to rest with her son and, twenty eight years later, Mary.
