Plot 1046 Ethel Beatrice Meek (née Pocock) (1889-1948) Ethel was born 19 February 1889 in Berkhamsted to Charles and Mary Ann Pocock. Her father was an engineer and the family lived at 15, High Street. Ethel was the second of their three daughters. In 1911 she was living with her parents and was described in the census as “Coat assistant” –possibly a cloakroom assistant. She married Bertram James Meek in 1915 in Berkhamsted and their son Charles Edward was born in 1920. By 1921 Bertram was a railway bus conductor at Tring station employed by the L&NW Railway Co. In the 1939 Register the family were living at 39, Wingrave Road, Tring. Bertram was still employed by the L&NW but now as a porter, shunter and van driver. Ethel died 31 October 1948 aged 59. Bertram survived her until 1963 and is buried here with her.
