Eva Fanny Hall

Unmarked grave Eva Fanny Hall (née Wooldridge) (1883-1946)

Eva was born 31 January 1883 in Edmonton to Eva Kate (née Hall) and Philip Bolton Wooldridge.

By the time of the 1891 census the family was living at 6, Margate Road, Birchington, Kent and her father was employed as a private secretary. Eva, aged 8, had a younger brother and the family employed a live-in domestic servant.

By the time Eva was 18, in 1901, her father was the assistant secretary at a hospital and they were living at 37, Mansell Road, Acton. No further children had joined the family and Eva’s maternal grandmother was living with them, as was a domestic servant. 

Eva married Barton Parkinson Hall, a costing and administration clerk, in Ealing parish church 1910 July 18 1910.

 In 1911 the couple were living at 186, Meadvale Road, Ealing, a handsome Edwardian two-storey terraced house backing onto Pitshanger Park. Barton was employed by the Metropolitan Water Board as an engineer’s clerk.

During the First World War Barton served in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve as an able seaman from May 1915 to April 1918.

By 1939 Eva and Barton were living at Castelnau, Castle Hill with Barton and sons John Boileau Barton (born 13 February 1922), who was seeking employment, and Anthony George (born 27 June 1923) who was at school.

Eva was doing her bit for the war effort by working with the British Red Cross

Eva died in 1946 aged 63 and Barton appears to have moved away from the area.
