Francis was the child of James Weyland Broome and Mary Eve (née Davis) who had married in Northchurch 25 August 1901.
James was a presser in the mantle factory in Lower Kings Road and was born in Kennington, Surrey and Mary was originally from Lidstone in Oxfordshire.
Little Francis Weyland was their first child, but he was born and died within the first three months of 1905.
In the 1911 census they were living at 185, High Street with their son Reginald Weyland (b. 1908) and daughter Winifred Iris (b.1909). They were to have one more son, Frank Henry in 1915.
