Frederick was born 4 May 1885 in Wolstanton, Staffs, to Henry and Eliza (née Taylor) Dukes. His father was a railway plate layer.
In 1901 he was living with his parents and was employed as a railway telegraph clerk which was still his occupation in 1911 when he was living with his widowed father and older sister in Wolstanton.
Frederick married Clara Ferguson in early 191 and their son Colin was born 13 July 1920.
In 1921 the family were living at 5, Orchard Street, Wolstanton. He was an accounts clerk with the North Staffordshire Railway Company.
Clara died in the Derby district in 1932.
Frederick married again in 1934 to married in Derby to Emily A Stephenson and they had moved to 57, Greenway West, Berkhamsted by the time of the 1939 Register where he is recorded as a railway clerk.
Emily died in May 1941 in West Herts hospital where she had been a patient in 1939. She is buried in an unmarked grave in this cemetery.
Frederick died 24 August 1945 aged 60.
