Frederick William Orams

Frederick was born in 1854 in West Haddon, Northants to Jeremiah and Jane (née Watts) Orams. His father was a watch and clock maker who had been born in Suffolk.
In 1861/71 the large family lived at High Street, Daventry.
Frederick never married and in 1881 he was a brewery clerk boarding in Leeds.
He became a hay and straw dealer in Leeds in October 1885 having “had no previous experience of the trade” but became bankrupt in 1886 with assets of £149 and debts of £203.
In 1901 he was a commercial traveller in leather and living as a boarder at 19, Wood Street, Northampton.
In 1906 he became paralysed. It is not known whether this was as a result of injury of disease.
By 1911 Frederick was living with his widowed mother at 42, High Street, Daventry. His mother, aged 82, was a silversmith and jewellery dealer and his brother, Thomas Cromwell Orams, was a watch jobber and jeweller.
Frederick’s death at the age of 57 in October 1911 was registered in Berkhamsted and he was buried by Coroner’s order.
