Unmarked grave Henrietta Louisa Nutcombe (née Stevens) (1864-1946)

Henrietta was born in Uplyme, Lyme Regis, Dorset, 7 September 1864, to Richard Stevens, a farrier, and his wife Susan (née Major).

It is likely that Henrietta went into domestic service in London, as her daughter Nellie Frances Stevens was born in Islington in 1886. The identity of her father is not known.

Henrietta married widower William George Nutcombe, a carpenter born in Cheltenham in Paddington in 1918.

(In August 1899 William George Nutcombe, carpenter, of 51, Union Street, Fairview, Cheltenham was before the magistrates on a charge of assaulting his wife Ellen by hitting her in the mouth and turning her out of doors. Despite a witness who said he heard her cry for help and separated them in the street, William denied it, his sister said Ellen started it and his mother stated that no blow had been struck. The case was dismissed. William had married Ellen in 1881. She died in 1886.)

In 1921 Henrietta and William lived at 22, Westmoreland Road, Paddington, London.

William died in 1937 and by the time of the 1939 register Henrietta was living alone at 4, Powis Terrace, Notting Hill, London.

It is not known how she came to be buried here, but she died in 1946 in the Hemel Hempstead registration district.
