Unmarked grave Henrietta Rosina Bunn (née Mothersole) (1876-1904)

Henrietta Rosina Mothersole was born in 1876 in Potten End. Her mother was Caroline (born in Bury St Edmunds) but her father’s name has not been found.

In 1891 she was employed as a nursemaid in the household of Samuel and Catherine Satow in Kitsbury Road. Samuel was a solicitor. As the seventh of her children was only seven months old, Mrs Satow must have been very grateful that they could afford the cook, housemaid, nurse and nursemaid that they employed.

Henrietta married Sidney Bunn (“groom, not domestic”) from Little Merton, Norfolk in 1896, in Berkhamsted. They lived at 42, High Street.

Their children George (1897), Helen (1898) and Edward (1902) were all born in the town.

Henrietta died 27 February and was buried on 3 March 1904 aged only 28.

(The 1911 census revealed that Sidney was a coachman employed by Meek’s stables in Lower King’s Road where he moved at some point after Henrietta’s death).
