Isabella was born 4 August 1862 in Wing, Buckinghamshire, the daughter of Philip and Mary Pitchford. Her father was an agricultural labourer and the family lived in the hamlet of Littleworth. She was baptised when she was ten years old in Wing parish church.
She married Joseph Cox, a fireman with the London and Midland Railway on 26 December1887 in Wing. Joseph was a widower.
The couple had eleven children, all born in the Bletchley area, of whom 7 were alive at the time of the 1911 census: Lionel A (1890), Alfred Edward (1890), Annie L E (1892), Alice M (1895), Edward Clarence (1897), Walter Redvers (1901) and Arthur Joseph (1904). In 1911 Isabella was widowed and was working as a charwoman and living at 3, Duncombe Street, Fenny Stratford with four of her sons.
The 1939 Register records Isabella, described as “incapacitated”, living with her son Arthur and his wife Elsie at 50, Victoria Road. Arthur was working as a labourer at the sewage works and he was also an ARP warden.
Isabella died at Victoria Road in February 1941 aged 79 and was buried 10 February.
