James Burgess
1865 –1911

Unmarked Grave: James Burgess (1865-1907)

Born 1865, Flamstead, the second son of George, a general labourer, and Charlotte (née Gibbs) Burgess.

By 1876 the family had moved to George Street in Northchurch and in 1881 James, aged 16, was employed as an agricultural labourer. Ten years later the family had moved to 55, Kitsbury Road. James was by then a general labourer and this was still his occupation in the 1901 census when he was still living at home with his two younger brothers.

James died in Berkhamsted in 1907 aged 42.

His brother Alfred passed away in 1911 and his mother Charlotte in 1912. They both lie in this cemetery in unmarked graves.
