Unmarked grave Jane Delderfield (née Dell) (1873-1946)
Jane was born 28 November 1873 in Northchurch. Her mother was Emma Dell. Her father’s name has not been discovered and it is uncertain whether Emma was married or not. Certainly, by 1881 when she was living in Cross Oak Road with her son William (born 1876) and Jane, she is described in the census as a widow.
In 1891 Jane and her brother William were living in the household of Jesse Beddall and his wife Louisa. In 1901 she was lodging at 31, Castle Street and employed as a charwoman.
Jane married George Delderfield, a labourer, 5 January 1904 in Berkhamsted.
Albert Joseph George was born 17 March 1910 at 19, Holliday Street.
In 1911 they were still at 19, Holliday Street. George was a farm labourer. William J was born in 1912.
By 1921 they had moved to 21, Holliday Street by which time George was a general labourer employed by Brightmans of Watford.
They were still at that address in 1939. Albert was at home and working as a jobbing gardener
Jane died in 1946.
