Plot 256 Jane Dixon (née Salter, late Whateley) (1816-1894) 

Jane was born 2 June 1816 in Fittleworth, a small village in West Sussex, to John and Martha Eugenia Salter. She was their youngest daughter. John would appear to have been a gentleman farmer.

Jane married Thomas Whateley, a surgeon, 20 October 1842 in Fittleworth.

In 1851 and 1861 the couple were living in Egerton House, High Street with two domestic servants and Thomas’s medical assistant.

Thomas died in 1867 aged 54 and Jane continued to live at Egerton House. On 6 April 1872 at  St John’s Isleworth she married Henry Augustus Dixon, a widowed clergyman, who had moved to Berkhamsted in about 1871.

Henry died at Egerton House  in February 1886. He lies in this cemetery in a vault at plot 324.

Jane died 10 February 1894 aged 78 and is interred here with her first husband.
