John was born in Aylesbury in about 1831. He had married and was widowed and served in the army which provided him with a pension. In March 1901 he was a lodger at 3, Thompsons Row with the household of Sarah Digby, a widowed laundry woman.
He died a year later and was buried 6 March 1902 aged 71.
