John Seabourne

John was born in 1838 in Dilwyn, Herefordshire, to Samuel and Harriet Seabourne. His father was an agricultural labourer. In 1861 he was working as a labourer and still living at home.
John married Sarah Toms 1 August 1869 in Bushey, Herts, her home town.
In 1871 John was employed as a gardener and he and Sarah were living in Harrow Weald House, Harrow.
The couple do not appear to have had any children.
In 1891 they lived at Grove Cottage Lodge, Bushey Heath. John was gardener to Sir Oscar Clayton, surgeon, who lived at Grove Cottage. Sir Oscar was a highly fashionable Society surgeon who, in 1868 was appointed as Extra Surgeon-in-Ordinary to the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, and Surgeon-in-Ordinary to his brother, Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh.
It is not known when they moved to Berkhamsted but John died October 1900 at 6, Chesham Road aged 62.
The 1901 census records Sarah living alone and working as a laundress.
