Lilian was born in 1887 in Kingston Bagpuize, Berkshire, to farmer, butcher and dealer James Taylor and his wife Martha.

By 1901 her father had become a baker, running his own business. Lilian and her younger sister Mary were still at home at the time of the 1911 census. Lilian was a lace maker employed by Kingston & Longworth, lace makers, at Webbs Farm, Kingston Bagpuize, and Mary was a teacher of lace making at the same place.

Lilian never married and the June 1921 census records her as postmistress of Kingston Bagpuize. Living with her were her married sister Mary Mearing, two young nephews and a male lodger.

Lilian died in West Herts hospital in June 1934 aged 47.
