Lizzie Maria was born to Ezra Bryant and Elizabeth, nee Monk. (Their surname is recorded either as Bryant or Briant). In 1881 the Briant family were living at Northfield Cottages. Ezra was born in Cuddington, Bucks. Elizabeth was born in Northfield Aldbury, Berkshire.  Ezra was a feeder for a threashing machine. Lizzie had four brothers and two sisters, her youngest brother Ezra was born in 1881 but died in 1883. In 1891 the family were living in Bourne End, Tring, Hertfordshire.  Ezra was a farm labourer. Of Lizzie's siblings, George and William were canal boatmen, Herbert a general labourer, Ellen, Annie and Lizzie herself were Silk mill hands and Arthur and Frank were at school. In 1897 Lizzie married Charles Dean, a chemical labourer, in Tring, Hertfordshire. By the time of the 1901 census they were living with their daughters Nellie and Mary at 11 Provident Place. However, in 1901 Lizzie lost one daughter, Mary. Her father Ezra died on November 11th 1910, he is interred at Pitstone. Her mother Elizabeth died on May 8th 1939 and is buried in Plot 872 along with Mary Dean, Lizzie's mother-in-law. By 1911 the family were living at 3 Manor Street Berkhamsted. By 1926 she was widowed and living with her surviving daughter Nellie.   By the time of the 1939 census they were still together in Meadow Road, Berkhamsted. She died in 1955, twenty nine years after her husband.
