Iris was born in April 1904 in the Abingdon district, the second child of to Philip Henry Simons, a boot shop manager, and his wife Jessie Blanche (née Moxey).
Sadly she died August 1904 at 138, High Street, Berkhamsted, aged 4 months.
Her parents remained in Berkhamsted until at least 1906 when a son was born, and then moved to Staffordshire.
