Plot 954 Mark Thomas Monk (1875-1952)
Mark was born in 1875 in Aldbury to James and Sarah Monk (née Janes). His father was a duck breeder.
In 1881 he was living in Northfield Cottage, Aldbury, in the home of his older brother William, who had taken over the duck breeding business. His widowed mother and other two brothers and two sisters were also living there.
By 1891 his mother and William had moved the duck breeding business to Bulbourne, Tring. Mark was living with them and working as a gardener.
He married Mary Emma Robbins 29 April 1903 in Tring parish church.
They moved to Berkhamsted where Edith Emily (1905), Cecil Edward (1907) and Reginald (1909) were born.
In 1911 they lived at 22, Cross Oak Road and Mark worked as a jobbing domestic gardener.
Doris May was born that year.
Sadly their son Reginald died 5 December 1923, aged 14, and is buried here.
Mary and Mark remained at 22, Cross Oak Road. He died 1 January 1952 and Mary survived him until March 1953.
