Plot 856 Mary Ann Smith (née Gibbs) (1866-1940) 

Mary Ann was born 29 December 1866 in Maids Morton, Bucks, to Eli Gibbs, a carpenter, and his wife Elizabeth. In 1871 the family lived in Duck Lane.

By 1881 they had moved to the High Street, Stony Stratford, Bucks, where Mary Ann married George Smith, a railway employee, in 1892.

Jane Florence was born in 1894 followed by Constance (1895), Alice (1898) and Joseph W (1898) all in March Gibbon, Bucks. Helen Elizabeth was born in 1900 in North Marston, Bucks.

The 1901 census records the family at Garfield House, “Middle of the village”, North Marston, Bucks where Sidney James was born in 1902.

By 1921 they had moved to 11, Queens Road, Berkhamsted where Mary Ann would live for the rest of her life.

She died 17 July 1940 aged 73 at home. George survived her until 1947 and is buried here with her.
