Martha Williams

Unmarked grave Martha Williams (née Simpson) (1868-1942)

Martha was born 10 September 1868 in Henley on Thames to John and Sarah Charlotte Simpson. Her father was a barge builder.

She married commercial traveller Percival Arthur Charles Williams in 1907 shortly before the birth of Charlotte Alfredia in Manor Park, Essex.

In 1911 the family lived at 36, Lawrence Avenue, Manor Park. Her widowed mother was with them, and was still in the family ten years later at 32, Monsell Road, Islington.

By the time of the 1939 Register Percival and Martha had moved to 22, Victoria Road, Berkhamsted. Percival is shown as incapacitated and blind.

Martha died in January 1942 in West Herts hospital aged 73. Her funeral was conducted by the Baptist minister. Percival died in October the same year and is buried with her.
