Mary Ann Sharp

Unmarked grave Mary Ann Sharp (née Double) (1851-1945)

Mary Ann was born 16 March 1851 in Fulham, the first child of Robert and Mary Ann Double. Her father was a cabinet maker.

Mary Ann became a domestic servant and married George Sharp, a coachman, 10 January 1880, at Apsley End, Hemel Hempstead

Edwin (1881), Ernest (1883), Ella (1886), Amy Gertrude 24 January 1887, Queenie (1889), Arthur (1890), Reginald (1892) were all born in Boxmoor.

Between at least 1901 and 1911 George was the licensee of The Spotted Cow, Cotterells, Hemel Hempstead and Mary Ann was helping him in the business. By 1912 there was a different licensee. (The pub has now been demolished).

By 1939 Mary Ann was widowed and living at 31, Shrublands Avenue, Berkhamsted in the home of her daughter Amy and her husband Arthur Turner

Mary Ann died in 1945.
