Mark was born in 1855 in Berkhamsted, the son of William and Elizabeth (née Dean) Wade. His father was a labourer
By 1871, aged 16, Mark was employed as a gardener and was living with his parents in The Wilderness
He married Harriett Brown in Berkhamsted in September 1877. They were to have nine children, of whom one died in infancy.
In 1881 the family were living at Great Amwell, near Hertford. By 1891 they had returned to Berkhamsted and lived in Victoria Road. From at least 1901 they were living at 11, Clarence Road.
Mark died 6 April 1932 aged 77. Harriet survived him until 1945 and is buried here with him, as is their daughter Nellie.
