Philip was born in 1929. It has not proved possible to identify his parents.
In 1936 an epidemic of diphtheria struck the town affecting many school-age children. It seems likely that this is what struck down Philip who died in May at the Isolation Hospital in Aldbury where the victims of the epidemic were taken. He was only 7 years old.
Philip was buried 18 May 1936.
