Rebecca was born in 1852 in Berkhamsted and baptised in 1856. Her father George Davis, a labourer, had been born in Northchurch and her mother Sarah (née Preston), in Berkhamsted.
In 1861 she was living with her parents and three younger siblings in Red Lion Yard, Berkhamsted, a fairly run-down and poor location. In 1871 Rebecca, aged 20 and with no apparent occupation, and her eleven year old sister Amelia, were living with their grandparents, Daniel and Amelia Preston, next door to their parents and four siblings in Red Lion Yard.
Rebecca married Walter Eames, a bricklayer’s labourer, in Berkhamsted in 1877.
In they were 1881 living in George Street with Emily (1877) and Arthur (1879). Three more children were to be born: Caroline (1890), Horace (1893) and Frederick (1896).
By 1901 they were living at 9, Wood Lane, Hemel Hempstead. Walter was a brickmaker,
At some point they moved to 40, Shrublands Avenue where Rebeca died aged 57. She was buried 6 January 1910.
