Unmarked grave Richard Thomas Cook (1858-1927)
Richard was born in 1858 in Great Gaddesden.
He married Hannah Elizabeth Bedford in 1879 in Berkhamsted.
When Ethel was born in 1881 they were living in the High Street, Northchurch and Richard was a labourer.
Samuel Boaz was born in 1883 in Northchurch.
In 1891 the family had moved to Cross Oak Road and Richard had become a sawyer.
By 1901 they had moved to Charles Street. Richard was described in the census as a wood sawyer and daughter Ethel, a draper’s assistant. They had two lodgers.
In 1911 they lived at 15, Charles Street. Richard was still a timber sawyer. His 88 year old aunt, widow Caroline Elizabeth Warren, was living with them.
By 1921 Richard was saw mill foreman for East & Sons. The family lived at 23, Kitsbury Road. Son Samuel was at home, married and “unable to work”. Samuel died in November that year and is buried in this cemetery.
Richard died November 1927 St Peter’s hospital, The Strand, London. It was a hospital that specialised in urological diseases.
