Plot 871 Richard Lines (1829-1912)

Richard was born 17 March 1829 in Berkhamsted, the son of William Lines, a whitesmith born in Daventry, and his wife Esther, a straw plaiter born in Berkhamsted. He was baptised in the Independent chapel.

Richard married Mary Ann Young 4 November 1855 St Pancras Old Church, London.

The couple appear to have moved about as the birthplaces of their children show: Thomas Henry (1857 Northchurch), Mary Ann (1863, Berkhamsted), Albert Edward (1867), William Arthur (1870) and Clara (1877) born Chesham.

Richard worked as a wood turner, a labourer and a railway porter.

In 1911 he and Mary Ann living alone at 18, Ravens Lane.

Richard died 12 February 1912. Mary Ann survived him until 1924 and is buried here with him.

Their son Thomas Henry (died 1937) is buried in plot 728 with his wife.
