Unmarked grave Robert Impey Fountain (1870-1915)

Robert was born in 1870 in Little Gaddesden, the son of William Fountain, a house painter, and his wife Charlotte (née Impey), a straw plaiter. At the time of the 1871 census Robert had three older sisters. By 1881 he had two more sisters and a little brother.

By the time Robert was 21, in 1891, his father had become a bricklayer and Robert was working as a house decorator. He, his parents and his siblings Frank and Kate still lived together in Little Gaddesden.

Robert married Theresia Maud Peters at St Mary’s, Balham, 8 April 1897 and they were to have two children: William born 1898 and Kate born 1899.

By 1910 the family had moved to 22, Cross Oak Road. Robert was a house painter. In 1911 they had the Revd. Herbert Richings living with them as a boarder.

Robert died November 1915 at 53 Cross Oak Road, aged 45.

Theresia Maud survived Robert until 1920.
