Sarah was born in 1822/3 in Dunstable, although her parents and her early life have not been traced.
She married William Costin, a carpenter in Berkhamsted in December 1846.
In 1851 they were living in Grubs Lane. Sarah was working as a straw bonnet sewer and between them they doing well enough to be able to afford a live-in maid servant.
Sarah died in late December 1857 aged 35 and was buried 1 January 1858.
