Sarah was born in 1870 in Berkhamsted, the daughter of Joseph Cook, an agricultural labourer and his wife Ann, a straw plaiter.
In 1871 the family, including Sarah’s three older brothers and two older sisters were living at Canal Side.
In 1891 Sarah was living with her brother Edwin, a bricklayer, his wife Mary Ann, their two children and her widowed father Joseph in their five-roomed house at 14, Highfield Road. Ten years later Joseph had died and Edwin and Mary Ann had three children. Sarah was still living with them and working as a laundress. By 1911 Edwin and Mary Ann had four children, all working and Sarah, still employed in “laundry work” was described as “boarder”.
In 1919 Sarah married Thomas Dealey and in 1921 they were living at 40, Highfield Road. Thomas was employed by A Coles of Luton as a general labourer. They do not appear to have had any children.
Sarah died October 1935 aged 65 at Highfield Road and was buried 18 October. Sarah died in October 1935. Thomas survived her until 1940 and is buried with her here.
