Sarah Gash

Sarah was born in Berkhamsted on 22nd September 1831 and was baptised on 16th October that year.  Her parents were Sarah Tomlin and George Loader. George was a master bootmaker and very influential in the town. Sarah married John Gash when she was 30 and he was 38.  He was a carpenter. They had two daughters: Sarah and Mary Anne (Annie). Neither of them married and remained living with their mother at 25 Mill Street. Sarah died in 1922 and left her savings to Thomas Charles Bamford, a family friend from Nettleden.
