Born 1873 in Chesham, the daughter of Charles and Sarah Reading. By the time of the 1881 census Charles was the farmer of Marlin Farm, Northchurch (just to the SE of the A41).

Sarah married Alexander A Brinkman in Berkhamsted in 1896. Alexander was a butcher, the son of Dinah Rachael Brinkman and brother to Leonard Harold Brinkman, both buried in plot 966.

The Brinkmans moved to Paddington where their first child was born. Tragically six of their seven children died within a year of their birth, but daughter Violet Annie Alexandra was born in 1901 and lived to the age of 93.
