Sarah Philbey
1799 –27/01/1875

Unmarked grave Sarah Philbey (née London) (1799-1875) 

Sarah was born c. 1799 in Ivinghoe.

She married William Philbey, a labourer, in Ivinghoe 23 April 1816. In 1841 they were living in Pitstone. They had a large family, including daughter Bethia.

By 1851 William had died and Sarah was a pauper living at Pitstone Green Farm.

In 1861 she was a straw plaiter and living with Bethia.  Her grandson Jesse was born in 1865 out of wedlock and Bethia later married, taking Jesse with her to live in Berkhamsted.

Sarah died 27 January 1875 aged 76 in Gossoms End.

Jesse is buried in plot 960.
