William AG Prosser

Unmarked grave William Alfred George Prosser (1917-1938)
William was born in 1917 to William and Beatrice (née Rowe) Prosser. His father was a labourer in the saw mills and he was their second child.
In 1921 the family lived at 29, Bridge Street.
His sister Violet May died in September 1927, aged only 19, and is buried in this cemetery.
William contracted TB, “the white plague” that caused so many deaths at a time when there was no cure. He was admitted to The Hertfordshire County Sanatorium for the treatment of TB cases. This had been established at Ware Park mansion in 1923 (The building later became a hotel and is now luxury apartments) and died there in May 1938 aged 20, another terrible loss for his parents.
His sister Violet and his grandfather Alfred are also buried in this cemetery.
