William Bunker

Unmarked grave William Bunker (1854-1903)
William was born in 1854 in Berkhamsted. His father, Daniel, was a labourer born in Chesham, his mother Catherine (née Cheshire) was born in Hemel Hempstead. He was the fourth son of six.
In 1861 he was living with his family in the High Street. In 1881 he resided with his widowed mother and brother Walter in Highfield Road and worked as a brush maker.
He married Ada in 1883 in Berkhamsted.
Their children William (1884), Archibald (1887), Florence (1891), Emily (1896) were all born in Berkhamsted.
In the 1891 the family were living in Bridge Street and William was employed as a general labourer.
1893 their son William was chosen as one of the Bourne Scholars, receiving a £5 scholarship and wearing a distinctive red tasselled cap.
Ada and William’s last child, Bertie, was born in 1900.
The 1901 census found the family still at 10 Bridge Street. William was employed as a nursery labourer
He died in June 1903 aged 48 and was buried on the 11th.
It is possible that the Daniel Bunker buried in an unmarked grave in this cemetery was his father.
