Despite his unusual name for someone living in Hertfordshire, it has proved impossible to separate the several William Darchs born in the West Countyry around 1877.
According to the 1939 register he was living at 27, Shrublands Avenue, the home of Edith Widden. His date of birth is given as 20 March 1877 and he was a widower and gas fitter.
He died in 1944.
